This is a lovely spot in our hilltowns of Western mass. The chef obviously is very committed to sustainable and local agriculture, as well as locally sourced meats and homemade fermented foods.
The menu is standard pub fare but with a twist.
My kids love their pulled pork sandwiches and house burgers, and I enjoyed the Burnt( grilled) salad with grilled steak tips, asparagus and miso dressing.
My husband had the steak special which was equally good.
We also tried the trio of ferments; pickled ginger carrots, beets and summer squash and it was delicious!! The service was very attentive and quick as well.I'm so happy that the Rabbit Hole is in town! -

We stumbled on this place on a Saturday, driving back from the Mass MoCA and Clark museums. What a fabulous surprise!
We were resigned to getting a burger, but were delighted to be able to choose a delicious marinated-portabello mushroom burger instead of a regular veggie one (apparently they make different non-meat alternatives as the chef desires). Toppings were succulent and tasty, our smoked beans side was divine, and the "tower of beets" appetizer was both beautiful and tender.
We were so taken with the place that we also tried their peach/buttermilk pie. So glad we did---the chef grills peach slices so they get dehydrated enough to intensify their flavor while removing what can be mushiness in a lesser pie. And the creamy flan/pudding/cheesecakey layer underneath was a perfect complement to those astounding peaches.
Bravo, Rabbit Hole! -

Easy to give 4 stars to this burger place. Daily specials were thought through. Meats locally sourced so not only does everyone in town know one another but they likely knew the name of the animal on your plate. The chef's fermented selections should not be passed on. I'll gladly go back.

We have been here a few times. This comment only refers to our latest trip. We ordered the vegetable tempura appetizer. While it stated seasonal vegetables, we expected more than just squash and zucchini. But, that was it. Unfortunately, we only ate a few pieces. We pulled the batter of most pieces we ate. The batter was not cooked through, leaving a dense doughy consistency. The squash and zucchini was also not well cooked. It was a bit mushy. The sauce was excellent.
Timing is also an issue. We were met by the waitress quickly, and she had our drinks in no time. We knew what we wanted, and ordered our when our drinks arrived. The appetizer took about 20 minutes. We waited another 25 minutes before our food arrived. This was surprising considering we ordered a quesadilla and a medium rare cheeseburger.
What was shocking was that we got our food one hour after arriving. The quesadillas were cold. The caramelized onions in the quesadilla were colder than the cheese. There was no salsa with the quesadilla, which was disappointing.
The fries that came with the burger were lukewarm. The hamburger was the only item that had just been cooked. However, the caramelized onions on the burger were cold. This isn't an issue of made from scratch. If food takes an hour, it should be hot. This doesn't seem like a remarkable expectation.
Overall, this was extremely disappointing. Only the waitstaff made this a good dining experience. However, someone should be finding out why an appetizer was taken away 90% uneaten, and why one entree was uneaten.
Not the dining experience expected from the menu or description.
